Promised Photos

So, here are the photos I was talking about. They are from my Studio class this quarter.

My favorite perfume, which apparently is no longer available for purchase.

My people as props assignment. The only critiques I received on this was moving the charger to the left to eliminate the cord and having the model remove his wedding ring.

My beverage assignment. I don't have to re-shoot this one for a grade but I'm thinking of re-shooting it anyway and using glassware instead of plastic and porcelain.

Well, that's all folks! More to follow in a week :-) Stay happy, healthy and whole! Oh, and remember to turn your clocks ahead an hour! (boo!)

Some Goings On In My World

Well, what an exciting week this has been! I've been moved to the mobile office on the job site and set up my desk. So far, I have my company laptop, two dry erase calendar boards and one famed picture. The picture is of a flower my sister-in-law took while she was in Ireland (I will post it below). I have to get a little drawer organizer so my pens and markers aren't rolling around. We also had our first Precon Meeting which means we (my company, the HOA of the condo complex and the architect group) had a chat about who is responsible for what, what everyone's expectations are and when the work can be expected to officially start. It was really cool being a part of something so important. I am the official liaison between the homeowners and my coworkers, meaning if there are any questions either group has, they have to direct them towards me. This whole experience is going to be a new learning curve in my career, but I strongly believe that it will be a successful curve and at the end of the project, I am pretty certain I will be a much stronger asset to my company.

In other news, I have tried two new restaurants that specialize in vegan foods! The first one is a pizza joint in Greenlake, Seattle called Rizzo's Pizza. I had never tried vegan cheese before and I had always wondered how you could possibly make vegan pizza since cheese and butter is a main component. However, I ordered the Great Greek pizza and some cheesy bread sticks, both of which were totally vegan and SUPER amazing! I've since bought my own vegan cheese from the market - Daiya - and am hopeful that I can recreate some of that deliciousness myself at home. The second place is downtown Seattle and it's called Bamboo Garden: Vegetarian Cuisine, but my friends that I went with say that the whole menu is actually vegan, so they must have eliminated any animal products like milk or cheese. I ordered something like a pan-fried noodles with "chicken" cooked in a spicy Szechuan Sauce - Delicious!

So, I have to get on my computer and change my studio pictures from RAW files to JPGS so I can upload them to my blog. Maybe I'll do it in a few hours after The Hobbit is done :-) I have two shots I'd like to share with you. First is my beverage shot. It's decent enough, but I think I can improve upon it - like, instead of a plastic and glass tea pot, just a full on glass pot, and instead of a solid porcelain cup, i'll use a glass cup. My other studio shot is my perfume shot. My teacher liked the simplicity of it, especially since the bottle itself is so interesting to look at, but if I do reshoot it, I think i'll go with a different background - something like a Soji Screen or crumpled up rice paper to look sort of Asian inspired. I have two weeks to re-shoot and a whole lot of work that needs to be done for this coming Friday. But, I do want to start sharing my school work with everyone, so keep your eyes peeled.

Anywho, that's quite a bit for now. I will check back in later with some photos. Until then, stay healthy and happy and take care of yourself and others! :-)

Quick lil Update

So, as I was saying before, I am a part time construction worker. As of yesterday, I have been promoted to Project Engineer! I'm really excited for this new opportunity and a little nervous since I've never done office work before, but I know with hard work and faith I will be able to handle anything that comes this way. I'm so grateful for this new learning experience! It helps working along side one of my favorite coworkers, who will also be teaching me as I go, and possibly I'll be teaching him as he goes. I'm looking forward to blogging about my progress with work, school and life in general :-)

In the mean time, stay healthy and happy and take care of yourself and one another! <3

Out With the Old, In With the New

Hello there! For my first blog post, I will be telling you a bit about myself. I am a full time student and part time construction worker, puppy sitter, family therapist (not licensed), house cleaner, and loyal friend. I love photography, seemingly always have. I don’t remember the first time I started taking pictures, but I do believe it was with a little Kodak point and shoot camera. From there, I would tinker with my dad’s Chimera 35mm Camera and then they invented digital cameras and DSLR’s, which are my primary camera now-a-days.
Part of me being a full time student involves me going to The Art Institute of Seattle, where I am in the process of getting my associates in Photography. It has been a long and grueling process but so far very rewarding. I’ve met a lot of great people and made a lot of forward progress in my photography. Through school, I have been able to narrow down what I would like to pursue as a career; mainly studio/product photography. I am still passionate about photography as an art, and I aim to keep practicing and getting better in developing my craft.
I am also a full time student of life. Every day is a new learning experience. Some days I fail, some days I succeed, but the best thing for me is to get back up and back in the game. I have P.T.S.D coupled with depression and anxiety (courtesy of my dad), but I believe that I make my own future, so when I start to feel depressed or anxious I look for ways to bring me back to the present moment and feel grateful for where I am, who I am and how much I have grown over the years.
Things I enjoy:
Cooking ~ whether following from a cook book, or looking in my fridge and cupboards and coming up with ideas to use up leftovers, or making a “new” dish
Cleaning ~ contrary to popular belief, for me cleaning is a very relaxing task to do, particularly if I feel like my house is out of order. I tend to project the order of my life in the order of my house, so a clean and tidy home makes for a clean and tidy life :-)
Hiking ~ I LOVE being outdoors! Living in the great North West there are so many places to go hiking and so many mountain tops left to be explored (small mountains, like Little Mt. Si or Mt. Si)
Camping ~ again I LOVE being outdoors! and what better way to be out in nature then camping? Not many people enjoy sleeping on a cold, wet, hard ground, but when I am out in the wilderness I feel more connected with our Earth then when I am at home, sitting on a couch watching TV or…. being on the computer
Photography ~ which is kind of a givin’ seeing as how I’m attending school to get a degree as a photographer. My inspiration for getting into photography is first and foremost Jerry Uelsmann and secondly Ansel Adams. Look them up if you’ve never heard of them and you’ll see why (maybe) I fell in love with the craft
Writing ~ as of yet, the only thing I’ve ever had published are two poems I wrote when I was in grade school (grades 6-8) that were published in our school year book. I have written short stories for different writing classes and have always gotten very positive feed back on my stories (except for punctuation, which might be apparent in my blog) but I have never tried to publish them. I am hoping that by creating this blog, I will amend that and this will help me to get some writing out there
Yoga ~ although it’s been a few months since I’ve done any, I do love it when I do. Yoga makes me feel amazing when I do get off my butt and do it. The practice fits in with a lot of the beliefs I hold dear to me, such as taking care of my vessel and opening my heart and soul for love to receive as well as give away
Today’s Conclusion:
This is the first post of many to come. Unlike my previous blog, I intend to use this as a medium of getting whatever is clogging my brain out and into the world. Some times what I write or post may not make any sense, but hey, that’s why it’s my blog – sometimes don’t make any sense! :-P So for all those that are coming over here from my old blog, please note that I will still be posting photos of things I have done, but also I will be posting just plain randomness. For all those that are new to my blog, welcome and I hope you enjoy yourself. Any new comers, please realize that this is my personal blog which will be my personal views and feelings. Feel free to comment in a polite manner on whether you agree or disagree and we can have a discussion, but if there are any negative comments left behind, be aware that they will be deleted immediately! There is no room for negativity in my blog.
Alright lovies, I think that is enough for one post. Be kind to yourself and one another! Stay healthy!!
PS. I am new to doing “hash-tags” so if I am doing them wrong, please feel free to leave a comment and let me know if I’m doing it wrong and inform me on how to do it properly. Thanks a bunch!
